INTRODUCTION
Please thoroughly read all policies below. I wish there weren’t so many things to read! But the more I do this, the more I realize what information clients need upfront. As a buyer you are accepting all policies upon purchase.
(1) PARTNERSHIP
This design process is a partnership. It takes open communication on both parts to arrive at a great logo design.
(2) EXPIRATIONS
After a purchase is made, the client has 30 days to initiate contact. If no contact is made after 30 days, the project expires.
If at any point the client discontinues communication, fails to submit necessary content or corrections for 45 days or more, the project will be null and void. In the event of an unexpected event that will delay your design project, please reach out to me prior to the 45-day mark to make arrangements.
Design projects in progress are non-transferable to new creative endeavors.
(3) TURNAROUND TIME: CUSTOM DESIGN PROJECTS
All project timelines should be discussed before a project has begun.
Projects are scheduled once payment has been received.
Delays in receipt of questionnaire responses will result in later scheduling.
Custom logo turnaround time is typically scheduled approximately 2 weeks from the date questionnaire responses are received for initial designs to be ready for review. The fluidity of a creative project occasionally requires longer. As the sole designer for Jack + Mo, instances of personal sick days, family matters, or inclement weather could potentially prolong wait times if applicable.
Design projects other than logos + branding packages will be discussed individually for turnaround time.
Edits for any project can range from 1- 9 days depending on circumstances and current workload.
(4) TURNAROUND TIME: PRE-MADE DESIGN PROJECTS
The initial design for review for pre-made designs is submitted to the client within 1-3 days. Additional rounds of edits may take between 1-9 business days.
(5) NO CHECK-IN EMAILS
Please not send check-in type of emails unless there is important information to share regarding your project. Think of it as "no news is good news."
(6) PHONE CALLS
All phone calls must be scheduled. Standard fees apply for consultations.
(7) QUESTIONNAIRE RESPONSES = CONTRACT
All answers given in response to a design questionnaire determine the direction of your project. Think of your answers as a contract and your formal request for design. If after reviewing the initial concepts you decide you’d like to go in another design direction (i.e. a different illustration or concept), that is certainly okay however additional fees may be incurred.
(8) POINT OF CONTACT
For each design project, there must be 1 point of contact. If a group of individuals must approve a design, the group must choose 1 representative to maintain contact. The point of contact person may not change during the design process.
(9) CONTENT
Clients purchasing commissioned business collateral projects must have content (text and images) prepared. All components should be submitted via email. J+M is not responsible for writing or editing any content unless discussed and included in the pricing.
(10) REVIEWING DESIGN CONCEPTS
The design editing process is conducted through email. Once design concept(s) have been submitted to the client, a written response with edit requests or approval is required within 3 business days. Responses received after 3 business days may delay the editing/design refining process. If you expect you may need more than 3 days, please send me a note letting me know.
Each specification for editing a design project should be written out in a numbered, itemized list. Edits apply to one design (not to multiples) and do not include several variations on the design, but a single new composition based on edit requests. Following directions for submitting proper feedback is required.
Each commissioned design piece is allowed 3 rounds of edits unless otherwise noted. The fees for any additional rounds of editing will depend on the estimated time it will take to make the edits.
(11) RESPONSIBILITY TO PROOF
It is the client’s responsibility to proof all content before submission as well as any file (draft, proof or final) sent by me. If final files have been sent and an error is found or a change is necessary, please inquire directly for editing pricing. The client is 100% responsible for all proofing.
(12) EDITS VS. NEW ILLUSTRATION
Rounds of edits do not include new illustrations or new designs.
(13) IMAGE AND FONT LICENSING
It is the client’s duty to secure proper licensing for images or font styles, if necessary.
(14) REFUNDS/ CANCELLATIONS
Due to the natural of custom design, refunds and/or cancellations are not available.
(15) PRICING QUOTES
All quotes for custom projects are valid for 14 days. Pricing listed on the website is subject to change.
(16) PORTRAITURE
Any custom design listed for sale does not include custom illustrations of people, pets, animals or mythological creatures (ha!). This type of design style takes quite a bit of time. Please inquire directly for custom portrait pricing. For all portraiture style projects, only 1 original design concept will be presented.
(17) FINAL LOGO FILES
Any design project is complete once I have customer approval and final files have been sent. Changes after final files will incur a fee.
Additional versions of a final logo beyond what is included in a standard package, or once a project has been finished, are separate purchases.
(18) RESUBMISSION OF FILES
If you happen to lose your files, a fee will be incurred to resend. I try to keep all files but I do not assure this.
(19) LOGO OWNERSHIP
Once a custom logo design is complete and I have submitted the final files via email, the client is the sole owner of the logo design and can print and redistribute in any way they see fit. The client does not own the rights to any other versions of the design or other concepts presented.
(20) CONFIDENTIALITY
If any client wishes to keep our conversations, design progress and final design product confidential, a non-disclosure agreement can be provided by our attorney, or you may share your own NDA. However, forms written by other parties may or may not be accepted.
(21) J+M PORTFOLIO
All custom design projects may be showcased in my portfolio, including a version different than the logo version chosen by the client. If for some reason you would prefer for your project to remain confidential, please discuss this with me before we begin.
(22) COMMISSIONED VS. SOLD MORE THAN ONCE
Almost all J+M designs are commissioned artwork, meaning they are designed for only one client and will not be resold. There may be a few select pieces that have been created with the intention to be sold more than once (pre-made logo designs). Carefully read each item description. If something isn’t clear, please ask.
(23) SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
From time to time I post designs, design progress, sketches and such on Jack and Mo social media sites such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. If for any reason you do not want your designs shared, please contact me directly before we begin your project so that I am aware. Most design projects are not shared immediately; I let some time pass so that clients have the pleasure of being the first to reveal their new branding!
(24) HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Each year, we will be closed for a week at Easter, a long weekend for Independence Day, a long weekend for Thanksgiving, a week at Christmas and the days of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. This may delay projects before and after scheduled holidays.
